Rob specialises in vocational and occupational profiling. Rob joined Miles Morgan in 2007 as a researcher on the annual Job Guide update. His editorial skills soon saw him move into a sub-editor role for the project. As sub-editor he was jointly responsible for maintaining the quality of the research and editing process. In 2008, he took on a more managerial role for Job Guide, helping to train and supervise a small team of researchers, liaising with the client to resolve any issues, and coordinating a complex and detailed editing process. Under the joint leadership of Rob and Dr Jade Nobbs the 2008 Job Guide project was one of the most successful and smoothest to date.

Since joining the Miles Morgan team Rob has lent his research skills to a number of industry and occupation profiling projects including updating the My Future website and profiling a range of associate professional occupations.

Rob started his academic career studying Environmental Engineering at Curtin University. He soon discovered that this was not the area for him and transferred to a Bachelor of Arts at Murdoch, majoring in Media Studies and English. This gave him experience writing in a number of styles including journalism, public relations, creative writing and formal essays. Due to this experience, Rob’s assistance is often sought in the process of editing reports produced by Miles Morgan.

While studying, Rob spent three years working in liquor stores, where he learnt patience, a customer and client-driven approach to work, and advanced conflict management skills. As his expertise in occupational profiling has developed, Rob is bemused to find himself being approached by acquaintances who wish to know what sort of job would best suit them.
