Marnie’s role at Miles Morgan encompasses project manager, senior researcher and consultant. She is currently managing the Australian Career Development Studies package and website and has managed the production side of our joint project with MultiMediaMakers ACE TV! for the past two years. Marnie contributes to other projects carried out by the Miles Morgan team in numerous ways, including editing, researching, writing, designing, and IT support.

As a senior consultant Marnie has worked with federal, state and local levels of government, and with a wide variety of stakeholders across a range of industries, including oil and gas, electrotechnology, career development, and education. Most of her work focuses on workforce and career development.  She has worked on various consultative projects for the Career Industry Council of Australia, including the development of Guiding Principles for Career Development Services and Career Information Products, and the development of the Professional Standards for Australian Career Development Practitioners, where she undertook consultation with career development industry members across Australia and carried out data analysis.

Marnie has also presented professional development workshops on the Australian Blueprint for Career Development throughout Australia.

Prior to working with Miles Morgan, Marnie worked at Murdoch University as a tutor and assistant to the Foundations Studies Coordinator, within the Teaching and Learning Centre. Tutoring first year university students enabled Marnie to develop an understanding of the difficulties faced by students attempting self-directed learning for the first time. Her tutoring work also included online tutoring, a challenging experience that sparked an on-going interest in e-learning. At this time she was also conducting research for her (then) PhD project Friendship and Love in Older Age.

Marnie has presented her preliminary PhD work to peers both in Australia and in Canada and while she has withdrawn from this project to pursue her consulting career, she plans to revisit it in the future.

Marnie has a keen interest in the discipline of project management, having completed a short course in PM at Curtin University, and also holds a BSc (Honours) in Psychology and a BA in Psychology and Anthropology. These qualifications have provided her with an in-depth knowledge of qualitative methods of inquiry and a particular interest in the social impacts of policy. She also holds a Post-Graduate Certificate in Career Development.
